Rihanna halftime show performance draws more viewers than Super Bowl LVII

Super Bowl LVII drew the largest audience in six years and still fell short of the amount of people that tuned in to watch Rihanna perform during the Apple Music Halftime Show.

Rihanna revealed her new baby bump at the start of the show and it quickly went viral on social media.

The halftime show garnered an average viewership of 118.7 million, according to Fox.

Super Bowl LVII, meanwhile, recorded 113 million viewers, enough to become the third most-watched television show ever.

Rihanna had not performed onstage in the better half of a decade, which could have factored in to the amount of fans who watched the show.

Super Bowl LVII still succeeds

That’s not to say the game itself was not a success. Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles became an instant classic.

It became the most-streamed Super Bowl of all time and most-streamed event in Fox Sports history.

Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts became the first pair of Black starting quarterbacks to take the field against one another in a Super Bowl.

Mahomes, 27, won his second Super Bowl MVP after leading his team to a second championship in three opportunities.
