Real Madrid are ready to restart negotiations to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, according to Marca.
The Spanish daily report that Los Blancos have no plans to contact PSG to make an official offer so far.. However, they have made the decision to try to sign Mbappé if there is an opening. It’s a change of tactics from Madrid who, for several months, seemed to have given up on signing the Bondynois after the striker suddenly rejected them last summer.
Negotiations between Mbappé and Real Madrid in 2022
Mbappé seemed destined to join Real Madrid last summer, but he made a dramatic turnaround by signing a three-year extension with PSG at the end of May. Throughout 2021-22, it had been widely believed that he would sign for Madrid on a Bosman transfer when his previous contract with PSG expired.
After rejecting a €200m offer from Real last summer, it was believed that the Frenchman had already agreed to a free transfer to the club he supported as a child. This was reinforced by the fact that he rejected numerous extension offers from PSG throughout the campaign. But, to everyone’s surprise, the 2018 world champion decided to sign a new contract with PSG.
This new lease was thought to run until 2025, but it appears to actually expire in 2024. Only Mbappé himself – not PSG – would have the option of extending the contract for another year. It certainly gives Madrid more chances to sign their player this year or next year.
