Flo Rida: rapper scores $82 million lawsuit win vs. ‘Celsius’ energy drink

Flo Rida just hauled his biggest payday yet, but it had nothing to do with music. The Hip Hop veteran had his way in court in a Florida lawsuit against energy drink company Celsius. The “Low” performer netted a whopping $82 million dollars.

The Floridian musician’s case was centered on claiming he popularized the product upon becoming the beverage’s brand ambassador in 2014. While the drink company, which has been growing rapidly on the national scene, assured he had been compensated accordingly.

The early days of the pandemic made the lawsuit happen

In a January CNBC interview, Flo Rida explained how it all came to be. The early days of the Covid pandemic allowed him to stay home and look over his finances and past investments. And that’s when he claims he discovered some big inconsistencies in regards to Celsius.

“I check it out and they were telling me that one of the products I was endorsing wasn’t selling and I got a chance to look at it and it was doing more than well. This product has done over tens and tens of millions of dollars since I joined the company”, he argued.

Flo Rida was proud to be the Florida company’s ambassador

The rapper explained that the fact the company sold a more healthy energy drink, along with the fact it was a homegrown Florida venture, really rang true with him.

Flo Rida explained: “Myself, I thrive on health. Since being in ninth grade, all I did was love fitness knowing that health is really wealth. So I was in this thing for the long haul, and basically when it came down to getting compensated…”

Along with the settlement, Flo Rida also sued Celsius for company stock. Which he claimed was guaranteed to him.
