It was the resounding announcement of the end of 2022. Cristiano Ronaldo, without a club since the termination of his Manchester United contract, signed with the Saudi club Al-Nassr. A choice that could question, he who seemed to be able to still perform in Europe. But for his new coach, Rudi Garcia, it’s a godsend, even if his first match does not delight the former Lyon coach.
the PSG had to face Al Nassr last year, then this summer, but it had never been possible. While the deal was signed, the two clubs cannot deviate from it. They will therefore face each other on January 19, allowing a final meeting between Messi and CR7.
“I can’t be happy with this game”
Rudi Garcia, the coach of Al-Nassr castigates the holding of this match. If it remains a big event for the club, since it will be the Portuguese star’s first match Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, Rudi Garcia is still against this friendly match, as he explained to Le Parisien: “Me, as coach of Al-Nassr, I cannot be happy with this game. For development, to see PSG, to see the great Parisian players, it’s actually a good thing. But we have a league game three days later. It could have been better thought out, but that’s not a big deal.”

CR7’s record contract
Upon his arrival at Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo signed an XXL contract, i.e. €200 million in salary per year. A sum that made people talk. The former player of real Madrid was fit to play upon his arrival, but a penalty imposed by the English Football Association had prevented it. Indeed, following a match against Everton, CR7 broke a child’s phone. Last November, when the Portuguese star was without a club, the FA announced a two-game suspension for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese’s first match will therefore be against Lionel Messi.
