A target of Chelsea and Tottenham goes to clash

Leandro Trossard, the Belgian winger from Brighton, no longer wishes to stay with the 8th in the Premier League. The coach of the English club, Roberto De Zerbi, and the agent of the 28-year-old Belgian have recorded a disagreement, which should manifest itself by a departure in January.

Leandro Trossard, Brighton

A major player in Brighton’s squad during the first part of the season (17 games, 7 goals, 3 assists), to the point of being called up to play the 2022 World Cup with Belgium, Leandro Trossard saw his status deteriorate rapidly on his return from the World Cup. Indeed, the winger, who only left his native country in 2019, for Brighton, does not have a positive attitude in training.

The team’s coach, Roberto De Zerbi, even ruled out Leandro Trossard for the match against Liverpool on Saturday. The Italian explained this at a press conference: “In the last training before the match against Middlesbrough, when he understood that he would not play, he left the session without telling me anything. And it’s not good. The following Monday, I spoke with him and I explained to him that this attitude, this behavior, I do not like. He knows that if he wants to play for Brighton with me he has to work hard, he has to run and go in the right direction because we are not a big team like Real Madrid, Barcelona or any other big club. We are Brighton, we need players who work for others.

Leaving in January?

Roberto De Zerbi, however, did not comment on a possible transfer: “I don’t know if he wants to change teams, I’m the coach, only the coach, I don’t take care of the transfer window, other teams or negotiations. I don’t know what the problem is.”

On the side of Leandro Trossard’s agent, the story is different. According to José Comhair, the club were discussing a contract extension with the Belgian before the World Cup in Qatar, but “no agreement was reached”. Then, Leandro Trossard had “an altercation with a teammate” and since, “the coach no longer speaks to him”. And this since “4 weeks”. Roberto De Zerbi even thinks that a transfer “would be the most reasonable solution”according to the Belgian’s agent, who especially hopes for cooperation from Brighton “to find a solution beneficial to all during the transfer window”.

Chelsea and Tottenham, according to the English press, are on the lookout.
