Over the New Year’s long weekend, the box office in the United States and Canada, as well as internationally, was once again dominated by Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron’s new film that remains virtually unchallenged in theaters.
This past weekend, Cameron’s film earned $67.4 million at the domestic box office, for a total of $425.5 million. Worldwide, the film has earned $997 million, for a total of $1.44 billion, ranking 13th all-time and still with several weeks of release to go, so it should enter the Top 10 in the coming days.
Disney, box office leader thanks to Avatar 2

Disney had a strong year-end boost following the release of Avatar: The Way of Water, which surpassed $1 billion in two weeks. These numbers were achieved by Disney with 16 theatrical releases throughout the year.
Second place went to Universal Studios
