Tebogo loses out in 200m final… by six thousandths of a second

Nineteen-year-old 100m record holder Letsile Tebogo was beaten to the finish in the Under-20 World Championship 200m final by Israel’s Blessing Akwasi Afrifa.

Tebogo missed out by just six thousandths of a second, as the two runners showed incredible speed over the 200 metres.

Tebogo has been labelled the new Usain Bolt

The Botswana native has received a lot of plaudits and media attention of late, having smashed the U20 100m record at the Cali World Championship.

He ran the 100m in just 9.91 seconds, and even ran the last 30 metres staring at opponent Bouwahjgie Nkrumie.

?The images of the final metres of the race drew comparisons with Usain Bolt and Andre De Grasse during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

But Tebogo was unable to dominate at 200m, though he pushed Afrifa as close as he could have.

Afrifa kicked on in the final few metres though and was able to claim the narrowest of victories by just six thousandths of a second.
