Pau Gasol and Cat McDonnell have announced that they are having a child together and it will be the former basketball player’s second child.
But they have also announced it with details. They will be parents of a boy next autumn. “Baby brother Gasol arriving soon”, they wrote in a post on Instagram.
The couple already have a daughter together, named Lisabet Gianna, who was born in September 2020.
Gasol retired at the age of 41 after playing for Barcelona for a few months to end his professional career and since then he has dedicated himself to his family.
He has focused on fully enjoying family life, a family which now awaits a new member with open arms.
The announcement comes a few days after visiting Spain with his wife, as they live in the United States. The ex-athlete paid a visit to his loved ones.
Gasol was a six-time NBA All-Star and a four-time All-NBA team selection, twice on the second team and twice on the third team.
Gasol won two NBA championships, both with the Los Angeles Lakers back-to-back in 2009 and 2010.
He was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2002 with the Memphis Grizzlies, being the first non-American player to have won that award.
He is regarded as one of the greatest power forwards of all time and is also considered as one of the greatest European players of all time. He is the older brother of fellow NBA player Marc Gasol.
