Stade Rennais has its third recruit of the summer. After the French goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and the Belgian central defender Arthur Theate, the Breton club offers the services of Joe Rodon.
The Welsh centre-back joins Bruno Genesio-coached SRFC from Tottenham on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy, for an undisclosed fee. Barred at Spurs, with whom his contract expires in June 2025, the 24-year-old has 24 appearances with the London capital club, joining in October 2020 against a check for 12.10 million euros. Last season, the Swansea native only took part in ten games. Joe Rodon had crossed paths with Stade Rennais during the group stage of the Europa League Conference.
“We needed two centre-backs following Warmed Omari’s injury. Joe comes from a top club in England. He will bring us his experience, even if he did not play all the matches last season. He played in the European Cup, as we have seen at Roazhon Park in particular. He is a real central defender who likes to defend, he has this aggressive side that we need, to allow us to be even more effective defensively”justified the technical director Florian Maurice on the official website of the club.
