Erik ten Hag to ‘fast-track’ Alejandro Garnacho to Man Utd first team

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be ready to speed up Alejandro Garnacho’s involvement with the first team at Old Trafford.

The 17-year-old winger, signed from Atletico Madrid in 2020, has enjoyed somewhat of a whirlwind few months. Garnacho was called up to the senior Argentina side in March and rewarded with his United debut a few months later, having netted twice in the final of the FA Youth Cup as well.

This summer, he travelled to the Maurice Revello Tournament (formerly the Toulon Tournament) with Argentina’s Under-20 side and netted four goals in just four games to finish as the competition’s second-highest scorer.

According to The Mirror, Garnacho’s rise to prominence has caught the eye of Ten Hag, who has spoken to United’s coaches about bringing the youngster into the first-team fold next season.

Ten Hag has requested an in-depth report on Garnacho from academy chief Nick Cox and it is even claimed that the Dutchman requested a copy of the FA Youth Cup final coverage to watch the young winger’s performance in its entirety.
