Sassuolo director confirms PSG talks

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that he has spoken with new PSG chief Luis Campos over the future of young striker Gianluca Scamacca.

The 23-year-old impressed in 2020/21 on loan with Genoa but took his game to a new level last year, firing home 16 goals in 36 games for Sassuolo and forcing his way into Roberto Mancini’s Italy setup as a result.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in signing Scamacca this summer. 90min understands that Arsenal are ready to move for the striker, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been tipped to pursue Scamacca.

There has even been talk of a bid from the Ligue 1 champions, and Carnevali has now admitted that he has spoken with PSG about a possible deal.

“Luis Campos is a friend, we also met around the Champions League final,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We talked about a few players, but without doubt Scamacca was a subject of the conversation.
