Thompson reveals that he wasn’t always good friends with Curry

Named as the ‘Splash Brothers’, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are regarded as one of the most formidable duos in the NBA‘s modern history.

The two men joined forces in 2011 when Thompson was drafted by the Golden State Warriors, just a couple of years after Curry was chosen with the seventh overall pick.

However, the two players didn’t become best friends immediately. In fact, it took them as many as three years for them to buddy up, with Thompson explaining the reason why they didn’t gel from the off.

“We really didn’t get to know each other till our third year in the league,” Thompson said.

“We’re both very quiet, and I think this trip with USA Basketball to Spain we played a lot of golf, we drank some Sangria in Barcelona, and I think he’ll say the same, but that summer of 2014 kind of glued us together and we just became good friends after that.”

The two Golden State stars went on to win three NBA titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018. This season they can celebrate their fourth title should they beat Boston Celtics in the finals.
