A wave of violence occurred Friday night in Milwaukee, including a pair of shootings a few blocks from the Fiserv Forum, the arena where the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks played Game 6 of their NBA Playoff series, leaving a total of 20 people injured by gunfire.
Shortly after the NBA game ended, a first shooting that occurred around 9:12 p.m. left three injured, two men, ages 26 and 29, and a 16-year-old girl, Milwaukee Police Captain Warren Allen told CNN.
This first shooting happened a block away from the Fiserv Forum, near the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Highland Avenue.
17 wounded in second shooting
Later, 17 people were shot in a second shooting that happened a few blocks from the site of the first, although all of the wounded, ranging in age from 15 to 47, are expected to survive.
In addition, 10 people were arrested and nine firearms were recovered in connection with the shootings near downtown Milwaukee.
“There was a 19-year-old male taken into custody in connection with this incident, charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office,” Allen said.
Other shootings in Milwaukee
By 9 p.m. Friday, Milwaukee police had reportedly responded to five separate shootings in the city, leaving three dead and two wounded.
Also Friday night, the Bucks lost Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals 108-95, so the two teams must play a Game 7 to determine which team advances to the Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.
