Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs were terrified as they tuned in to the Miam Grand Prix on Sunday to see their prized quarterback Patrick Mahomes attempting to lift a Formula 1 car in the air.
Mahomes’ big contract
Mahomes has led his team to three Super Bowl appearances in the last six seasons and they are the current champions, having won it twice recently. The new contract that the Chiefs handed him exceeded 500 million dollars in overall value.
It is the most expensive contract in NFL history when it comes to overall value, but it actually extends as far as 10 years into the future.
That is a lot of eggs to put in one basket, which is why Chiefs fans, players and directors live in fear about the prospect of Mahomes picking up any sort of injury.
In the off-season, though, Mahomes wants to have fun. He was at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, and then he was at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday where Max Verstappen extended his small lead at the top of the Drivers Championship over Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.
Mahomes uploaded a picture of himself to social media trying to lift an F1 car from the rear, whilst tagging health and performance developer Bobby Stroupe. Chiefs fans were quick to point out that F1 cars can weigh up to 1759 Ibs and it is putting a lot of strain on Mahomes’ spine to even pretend to lift the car.
One Twitter user shared the images of Mahomes on Miami and said: “Don’t hurt that $500 million worth spine bruv while tryin to lift tht thing..u da king of KC.”
