Led 5-0 after 21 minutes, Tottenham lost heavily on the lawn of Newcastle this Sunday (6-1). Hugo Lloris made a point of apologizing after the meeting.

It was the very definition of a day off for Spurs on Sunday afternoon. Cristian Stellini’s men were humiliated at Saint James Park, losing 6-1 on Matchday 32 of the Premier League. Faced with Newcastle, current 3rd in the English championship, Tottenham sank in the first period, conceding no less than 5 goals in 21 minutes.
Asked by Sky Sports at the end of the meeting, captain Hugo Lloris first wanted to apologize to the supporters: “It’s very embarrassingexplains the doorman of the Spurs. The first thing to do is probably to apologize to the supporters who came and to those who watched the match. It’s obvious that we didn’t show a good face today. We couldn’t compete with Newcastle players. We were outplayed in all aspects of the game. We completely missed the first part of the game.”
🗣️ “It’s very embarrassing… Probably we should apologise to the fans”

“A lack of pride and fighting spirit”
And to continue:It’s not even about tactic, it’s just that we couldn’t fightnotes the former French international. There was a lack of pride. To concede four goals in 20 minutes… You can get caught once, twice… But it was something strange, as if we couldn’t even react. We can try to find excuses and analyze the performance, but the first thing is that we lack fighting spirit. If you enter the field without the desire to be aggressive, to win duels, to win the battle, it makes things very difficult. Or else, you have to be very good with the ball technically and tactically. It’s a big mess.”
This defeat against a direct competitor further complicates the task of Spurs in the race for the Champions League. Tottenham is currently 5th, six lengths behind their opponent of the day.
