Still beaten this Sunday afternoon in Auxerre (2-1), FC Nantes is getting dangerously close to the red zone. In a post-match press conference, the Canaries coach therefore issued a serious warning to his players.

Finalist of the Coupe de France, FC Nantes is having a very funny season. If they were to beat Téfécé on April 28 at the Stade de France, the Canaries have indeed the opportunity to create a huge feat by winning the competition for the second consecutive year. But the Yellows and Greens could also experience a nightmarish end to the season in Ligue 1 without an immediate awakening.
We must indeed go back to February 12 to find the last trace of a success for Nantes in the French championship, it was against FC Lorient at home (1-0). Since that date, Antoine Kombouaré’s men have not progressed at all and are far from having ensured their maintenance in the elite of French football.
“We are not aware that danger is lurking”
After 31 games played, FC Nantes now occupies fifteenth place and is only two points ahead of the first relegated, RC Strasbourg (17th with 29 points). The urgency of reconnecting with success is therefore essential as soon as possible, otherwise terrible consequences will occur.

Antoine Kombouaré was also clear during his post-match conference. “For the moment, we are not aware that the danger is lurking. I speak facing a wall, that’s the observation I make. We like to be in difficulty to do the right thing. Today, we are at the bottom of the hole, it’s good, we’ll see what we are capable of. I’m not happy, but I trust my players, it’s up to us to do the job as they say”thus dropped the former PSG coach in front of the press.
The next meeting of the Canaries will take place next Sunday against Troyes, another team in great difficulty lately. This reception of ESTAC already promises to be absolutely decisive in the race to maintain it.
