Congratulatory messages rolled in after Mexico’s remarkable victory in the World Baseball Classic against Puerto Rico.

None other than Daddy Yankee sent a message to celebrate Mexico’s progression to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Daddy Yankee sent his regards to the Aztec squad live from the stadium, via his Instagram account: “good baseball was played tonight, Puerto Rico and Mexico are fighting cocks”. He also thanked his country’s national team for its performance at the tournament.

He accompanied his video message with the following text: “Congratulations to the Mexican National Team, they played good baseball tonight! We are gentlemen in victory and also in defeat, we love you. Puerto Rico, I congratulate you for your brave performance. Thank you for uniting the Island through sports. We are proud of you. #TeamRubio #WBC2023 RESPECT!”.

MLB Mexico’s response to Daddy Yankee

Among the many responses to the “King of Reggaeton” was one from the MLB Mexico’s official Instagram account, which posted:

“You’re great! It was a great game, but in the end, we are all Latinos who love baseball. All recognition to the Puerto Rican brothers,” reads the publication.

Daddy Yankee hung out with Randy Arozarena

The singer published his exclusive pre-match experiences via his Instagram stories where he shared footage of himself conversing with some of the players.

The Puerto Rican singer was seen chatting away with Randy Arozarena, the Cuban-Mexican who starred in the game’s most significant moment – his catch which prevented the Puerto Ricans from tying the game.

Mexico advanced for the first time in history to the World Baseball Classic semi-finals in style, recovering from a 0-4 deficit to win 5-4 against Puerto Rico, finalists in the last two editions.

Mexico will face Japan in the semi-finals, one of only two teams to finish the group stage undefeated.
