Cristiano Ronaldo gets green light for most expensive house in Lisbon

Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to refurbish the terrace of his millionaire apartment in the center of Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, after all, getting the green light for renovations on the city’s most expensive property.

Two years ago, he had to take down a canopy for having built it without a license but now he has the proper permits.

The Lisbon City Council has granted the soccer player permission to build “a shaded pergola, not a canopy,” according to the Portuguese newspaper Noticias ao Minuto.

The initial reform in his apartment became known in 2021 after Georgina Rodriguez, the soccer player’s partner, published a video recorded from the property’s terrace in which local media observed a metal structure outside the original project.

The capital’s council then announced that it was going to carry out an inspection of the apartment and, months later, the media reported that Cristiano Ronaldo had decided to remove the awning.

Hot property

The apartment, worth around 7.2 million euros, boasts some 288 square meters and is located opposite the Eduardo VII Park – one of the most expensive residential areas of the city.

It has a spa, cinema room, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a terrace from which you can see the Tagus River.

The architect Jose Mateus, designer of the apartment, criticized the initial refurbishments and claimed that it was “a lack of respect” that was carried out “without the consent of architects, neighbors and without an approved project”.

Ronaldo currently plays for the Saudi Arabian team Al Nassr FC in the Saudi Arabian Professional League. He is a full international with the Portugal national team, of which he is captain and all-time top scorer.
