Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Newcastle had just one setback for the Reds. Darwin Nunez fell badly in a challenge with Kieran Trippier and immediately felt his shoulder before he was substituted in the 60th minute as a precaution by Jurgen Klopp.
“The bad news [is] Darwin has something on his shoulder. We will see. In that situation I don’t know what he [the referee] whistled there against him, to be honest,” Klopp said after the game.
“In the end, he had to go off with a shoulder issue. We need further assessment; I don’t know in the moment. In the moment it is painful, but hopefully it’s just painful and not more.”
Twenty four hours later, MARCA has learned that Darwin is suffering from a ligament strain in his right shoulder… but he will be fit for Tuesday’s clash at Anfield against Real Madrid. The Uruguayan was treated all day on Sunday and will be in a hurry to be at this key game.
