Mallorca make short work of Villarreal reduced to ten

Continuation of the 22nd day of La Liga this Saturday evening with the trip from Villarreal to Mallorca, at the Son Moix stadium. And one thing is certain: there were many twists and turns in this mid-table duel in Spain, which was finally won by the Balearics (4-2). Former Lyon striker Tino Kadewere opened the scoring for the locals (20th). Subsequently, midfielder Manu Trigueros was expelled by referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez for having dealt a violent punch to the face of Mallorcan player Dani Rodríguez (22nd). A nasty gesture that left Villarreal at ten but despite this numerical inferiority, Quique Setién’s players managed to equalize in the wake of José Luis Morales (43rd). A short-lived joy since Rodríguez put the Bermellones back on track with a goal (45th).

On returning from the locker room, Villarreal did it again by equalizing a second time, still ten against eleven, with a goal from Samuel Chukwueze (50th). But once again Javier Aguirre’s troops rebounded well by scoring two goals in quick succession, allowing them to take cover for good thanks to Dani Rodríguez (56′) then Vedat Muriqi (63′). In the standings, Mallorca are back in 9th position, tied on points with their opponent of the day, Villarreal, still 8th. Next weekend, the Bermellones will go to Barcelona to challenge Espanyol, while the Submarino Amarillo will host Getafe as part of the 23rd day of the Spanish championship.
