Joe Mazzulla is officially signed as the Celtics head coach in replacement of disgraced Ime Udoka

The Boston Celtics are rewarding Joe Mazzulla’s leadership and performance with the team, which has them at the top of the NBA’s Eastern Conference, by making him the full-time head coach in replacement of Ime Udoka, who’s behavior off the court cost him the job.

Joe Mazzulla and the Boston Celtics sign an extension

This way Joe Mazzulla becomes the 19th head coach in the Boston Celtics history at just 34 years old, displaying amazing capability to lead one of the NBA’s most storied franchises even after entering the role on an interim basis due to Ime Udoka’s one year suspension for having an innapropiate relationship with a woman inside the organization.

This naming came alongside a contract extension, securing his deal for the immediate future and years to come, despite the details not being made public.

Mazzulla is now the NBA’s youngest head coach, a very talented leader and coach in the words of Brad Stevens, president of basketball operations at the Celtics, and former team head coach as well.

“He has a unique ability to galvanize a room around a mission. We are thankful for the work he has done to help get us to this point and excited that he has agreed to lead us into the future,” Stevens said in a statement.
