The striker returned from injury to enter the second half at the Parc des Princes, against Bayern on Tuesday evening.

After the match, the Bondynois posted on Instagram and used an image from the match with the caption: “Everything remains to be done…” However, a bug in Instagram’s translation tool, spelled it as : “Everything remains to be done… The Manchester United team is now on @psg”. The somewhat confusing translation led many Man Utd fans to believe Mbappé was making a cryptic reference to a summer move to Old Trafford. The Frenchman has been linked with a big-money move to United at the end of the season, with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani expected to make a bid for the club imminently.

Negotiations between Mbappé and Real Madrid in 2022

Mbappé looked destined to join Real Madrid last summer, but he made a dramatic turnaround by signing a three-year extension with PSG at the end of May. Throughout 2021-22, it had been widely believed that he would sign for Madrid on a Bosman transfer when his previous contract with PSG expired. After rejecting a €200m offer from Real Madrid for Mbappé last summer, the Frenchman was thought to have already agreed to a free transfer to the club he supported as a child. This was reinforced by the fact that he rejected numerous extension offers from PSG throughout the campaign. But, to everyone’s surprise, Mbappe decided to sign a new contract with PSG. PSG’s new contract was thought to run until 2025 but it seems that it actually expires in 2024.
