Former Spurs guard Bryn Forbes arrested on domestic violence charges

FormerSan Antonio Spurs guard and NBA free agent Bryn Forbes, was taken into custody early on Wednesday morning on a charge of misdemeanor family assault.

On the city’s far Northwest Side, at the La Cantera Resort & Spa, Forbes was taken into custody around 5:15 a.m.

San Antonio police believe that Forbes assaulted a person with whom he was allegedly dating.

According to an early police report, Forbes was out with the woman when he lost his temper. At that point, according to the police, the two were driving home when they got into a verbal argument that quickly escalated into physical contact.

Police also claim that Forbes hit the woman multiple times, injuring her and requiring medical attention. Officers arrested Forbes and took him into custody.

Forbes played for the Minnesota Timberwolves during the current NBA season before being let go on February 9. He hasn’t been signed by another NBA team yet.

The former Michigan State Spartan played five NBA seasons with the Spurs after going undrafted in 2016. His most recent season saw him appear in 40 games for the Silver and Black in 2021-2022. That season, he scored nine points on average per game.

Despite being undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, Forbes signed with the San Antonio Spurs and played in 36 games as a rookie.

He continued to play for San Antonio up until 2020, when he signed with the Milwaukee Bucks as a free agent. Since then, he has played for the Denver Nuggets, the Spurs once more, and the Timberwolves this season.
